The Swedish Air Force boasts one of the most interesting fleets in Europe, consisting largely of aircraft designed and manufactured domestically. Their design is tailored to Sweden's specific geography and climate, resulting in unique aircraft that incorporate a number of unconventional engineering solutions. Consequently, the airshow marking the Swedish military aviation centenary was an event not to be missed. It took place at Malmen Airbase, a site of great historical significance to the Swedish Air Force. As the hosts have spent years maintaining and restoring vintage Swedish-built aircraft, we had the opportunity to see Swedish planes ranging from the dawn of aviation to the present day — both in the air and on the ground.
