EXERCISE CASTLE FORGE, Graf Ignatievo AFB, 05.11.2021
The multinational exercise Castle Forge is a demonstration of USAF’s Agile Combat Employment (ACE). The 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, have been hopping from NATO air base to air base across the Black Sea region. The F-15E Strike Eagle crews have staged two rapid dispersals to Graf Ignatievo AB. The Strike Eagles flew alongside Bulgarian Air Force MiG-29s from Oct. 18 - 22 during the first leg of Castle Forge before redeploying to Larissa AB, Greece. They returned Nov. 1 for another week of flying in Bulgarian airspace.During Castle Forge, the Strike Eagles performed basic fighter maneuvers, tactical interceptions, and several complex tactical scenarios involving Bulgarian air defense stations and Su-25 aircraft.
