The 9th edition of Athens Flying Week was held on September 04th and 5th at Tanagra air force base. The show was very interesting not only with domestic participants but with some new ones for this show. After the Greece announced order for French Rafales it was quite expected some participation from the French Air and Space Force. And we saw a demonstration flights from Rafale and Patrouille de France. The less expected was participation of pair of USAF F-15C who showed us a series of touch-and-goes with afterburners on followed by aggressive climbing. Another nice foreign participants were Saudi Hawks, a national demonstration group of Saudi Arabia consisting of seven BAE Hawk aircraft. Royal Danish Air Force was send a single nicely painted demonstration F-16.The big news was the flight of Spitfire Mk.IXc MJ755 who came into Greece from a restoration about three months earlier. Of course the domestic hardware wasn’t less interesting as some already old aircraft as Phantoms and Mirages flew over Tanagra. In addition to them most of the types of Hellenic Air Force, Navy and Army flying inventory was in the air.
