KECSKEMET AIR SHOW, 27-29.08.2021
After eight years break Kecskemet Airshow was back at full throttle. The hosts presented a nice mixture of oldtimers, Cold war era aircraft, helicopters, modern fighters and trainers and demonstration groups. The Hungarian Air Force showed a mass take off and flypast of several Gripens and many helicopters from different types followed by flight demonstrations. The Cold war selection was amazing - Czech’s Aero Vodochody L-29 and L-39, Swedish’s SAAB 105, Draken and Vigen, and at full afterburner Romanian MiG-21 Lancer. The modern fighters were presented by Italian and British Eurofighters and Czech and Hungarian Gripens. A small ,,competition” in the demonstrations was held between Aero Vodochody L-39NG and Aermacchi M-346 as the Hungarian Air Force are going to choose their next jet trainer. Three demonstration groups displayed their capabilities. These were Turkish stars, Saudi Hawks and Wings of storm (Croatia). The domestic helicopters Mi-2, Mi-17 and Mi-35 were joined by W-3 Sokol during the demo flights. A rare for Europe visitor came from Brazil. The Embraer C-390 Millennium made a short demonstration over the airfield.
